About KNPS

The Kimberley Nature Park Society (KNPS) is a non-profit charity that consists of dedicated volunteers acting on behalf of the City of Kimberley to steward the Kimberley Nature Park. The City holds a Licence of Occupation, issued by the Province, that stipulates use of the area as a community nature park.

As the largest municipal park in BC, the Park is a valued asset not only for the City of Kimberley and the Province but also for Kimberley’s residents and visitors. The Park offers an expansive natural area for ecological educational and non-motorized recreational opportunities, while preserving important wildlife and biodiversity values. Located in the foothills of the Purcell mountains, the 840 ha park and the adjacent 200 Ha Horse Barn Valley Interpretative Forest contain more than 50 kilometers of trails linking old growth cedar, viewpoints, rugged talus slopes, and numerous ponds and streams.

The Park is managed by the KNPS with a mandate of conservation, education and recreation.
